At its Jan. 14 meeting, the School Board of the City of Virginia Beach elected Kathleen Brown as chair and Carolyn Weems as vice chair. Brown has served on the School Board for two years and Weems for 22 years.

Bethany Bayliss - Assistant Principal
Mrs. Bethany Bayliss has served in education for over 10 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Seconday Education at Cabrini University and began her career in Washington, D.C. as a high school teacher. She then moved to England where she was a secondary school teacher and Dean of Students before moving to Virginia Beach in 2021. In Virginia Beach, she was a teacher and math coach at Plaza Middle School. She received her Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University and became an Administrative Assistant at Kempsville Middle School before moving to Floyd E. Kellam High School as an Assistant Principal.
